My top 5 ways to keep Disney magic alive when I'm not in the parks!

My top 5 ways to keep Disney magic alive when I'm not in the parks!

It’s a constant struggle for those of us who are Disney fanatics that don’t live close to the magic.  Travelling from Toronto to Walt Disney World for the day isn’t always an option when I need a fix.  While I still manage to get to there multiple times each year, it’s just not enough to satisfy my addiction! I needed to find ways to surround myself with Disney magic when I’m in Toronto.

Here’s how I manage to feed my Disney addiction at home!

  1. I dress with Disney style

Thirts, shoes, purses, jewelry – I always have multiple pieces of Disney paraphanilia on! Alex & Ani bracelets and Dooney & Bourke purses are my current addiction.  It reminds me of my happy place and usually sparks a Disney conversation or two!

  1. Disney Art and Collectibles

My house is decorated with Disney art – everywhere!  From quotes to photos, my house has pixie dust at every corner!  Some are ‘darker’ than others – I can’t give up the Haunted Mansion references!  My full curio cabinet of my Disney treasures bring back some great memories of each piece. The Tinkerbell statue I bought with my prize money after playing “Who wants to be a mousketeer” on the Disney Magic always makes me smile!  The glass slipper I got for my 25th birthday the year the castle was turned in to a cake, and of course – the small piece of Walt Disney's backyard railroad that I was lucky enough to get.

  1. My household accessories

From my Mickey Mouse cookie jars to my alarm clock that has Donald Duck singing, everything has a Disney theme! My cutlery, dishes, glasses and cookware all have those ears somewhere on them!  The soap and towel racks in my bathrooms are one of my more subtle pieces – you wouldn’t even realize they were Mickey hands if you didn’t look closely!

  1. The scents of Disney

For Christmas this year I was delighted to open a gift that would forever make me feel like I was at my Disney home.  My favorite resort has this scent in the lobby (green clover and aloe) that I love. This Christmas I got a machine that produces that exact scent!  I have it on a timer so that each day when I walk in the house it smells exactly like my “home away from home”.

  1. I plan vacations

My friends tease me about how animated I get when I talk about Disney stuff, but I can’t help it! Talking about Disney just makes me feel good, that’s why I became a travel agent who focuses on Disney. I have the perfect excuse to talk about Disney and always have a captive audience when I’m helping to plan their vacation! The excitement they feel about their upcoming trip is contagious, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. The additional reward of having my clients tell me about the memories they made while on vacation are priceless. Those memories are the real reason I do this job.

Keeping Disney magic in my life even when I’m not at the parks is important to me.  It reminds me to dream big, and see the world through pixie dusted glasses.

“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.” - Walt Disney
